International Day of Education 2023
Today, on the International Day of Education, Connect2Luton would like to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of education and training for individuals and communities.
We are dedicated to providing education and training opportunities for job seekers and individuals looking to improve their skills. We understand that education is a fundamental human right and plays a crucial role in personal and societal development. It empowers individuals to think critically, make informed decisions, and contribute to their communities. Education also helps to reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and combat issues such as climate change and inequality.
Despite the importance of education, many people around the world still lack access to it. According to the United Nations, over 264 million children and youth are out of school and 774 million adults lack basic literacy skills. The International Day of Education serves as a reminder that much work still needs to be done to ensure that all individuals have access to quality education.
The fifth International Day of Education will be celebrated under the theme “to invest in people, prioritise education”. Here at Connect2Luton, we couldn’t agree more with this message. We have been working towards investing in our own people for the Luton 2040 project so we have much of the groundwork already in place! All we need now is the right people in the right place – people to work in our Luton schools.
Luton Borough's Schools are a great place to work for educators looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in students' lives. Luton has been ranked as one of the top 5 "most improved boroughs in the country" for reading, spelling, maths and punctuation, and this is a testament to the hard work and dedication of educators in the area. Additionally, 93% of young people in Luton are in education, employment or training, which is a strong indicator of the success of the education system in the borough. Furthermore, Luton schools have made significant progress in recent years, with 44 Luton schools now ranked 44th out of 151 LAs in 2016/17 for progress in secondary schools, an improvement from being ranked 59th in the past. Lastly, local residents also have a positive view of the schools, with 69% of people surveyed believing that their local schools are performing well and providing good quality education. Overall, Luton Borough's Schools are an excellent choice for educators looking for a fulfilling and impactful career.
So for this year’s International Day of Education, we’re inviting educators who are passionate to invest in the children of Luton. We need dedicated people to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of Luton's students.
