Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Senior Practitioner - Kinship Assessment on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their CHILDREN & LEARNING department.
Main purpose of position:
The Senior Practitioner - Kinship Assessment will support the Team Manager to provide high quality of Social Work practice to vulnerable/at risk children and families and ensure effective practice management.
As a Senior Practitioner - Kinship Assessment you will be responsible to:
- Carry a caseload of complex cases requiring a high level of professional skill, providing assessment, care management and other social work services relevant to the needs of the most vulnerable/at risk children and families. Require and maintain unallocated cases.
- Under the direction of the Team Manager, using professional skills and experience to provide practice management to team members to ensure compliance with national and departmental policies, procedures and quality standards.
- Undertake research, training and development activities as required for the department and for the post holders' own professional development.
- As and when agreed by the Team Manager, undertake the role of practice teacher for students undergoing professional training who are on placement in the Department.
Skills and Experience
- Substantial post qualifying experience including some in-depth experience in the field of child and family social work.
- Some experience of coaching/mentoring including practice teaching.
- Ability to demonstrate high level of competence in the practice of child and family social work.
- Excellent organisational, time management and administrative skills.
- Ability to make and act upon sound professional judgements.
- Ability to work to complex and conflicting demands.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for Disclosure and Barring Service checks to be undertaken.
