Infrastructure Engineer
Connect2Luton are excited to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer - Windows, Microsoft 365 & Identity for Luton Borough Council.
Main purpose of position:
An experienced Infrastructure Engineer is required to support the delivery of technical remediation and improvement activity across a Windows Server and Microsoft 365 environment. The role will focus on addressing IT health check remediation items, supporting server upgrade and modernisation activity, developing PowerShell scripts to automate operational tasks, and contributing to identity and access management projects. The post holder will help ensure the Council's core infrastructure, security controls and cloud services remain secure, resilient, supportable and aligned to agreed standards.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will involve:
- IT Health Check Remediation: Review, prioritise and remediate technical findings from infrastructure health checks, audits and security assessments; document actions taken and escalate risks where required.
- Server Upgrades & Infrastructure Modernisation: Plan, test and implement Windows Server upgrades, lifecycle replacements and related infrastructure changes, ensuring services remain secure, reliable and supportable.
- PowerShell Scripting & Automation: Design, develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate administration, reporting, remediation, monitoring and repeatable operational processes.
- Identity & Access Management: Support identity and access projects across Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, role based access controls, privileged access, MFA and Conditional Access improvements.
- Windows & Microsoft 365 Administration: Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online and Intune where required.
- Security, Documentation & Support: Implement secure configuration improvements, maintain clear technical documentation, support BAU incident resolution and work with project teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
