Business Support Officer - Highways Procurement

Salary: £250 - £280 per day
Location: Luton

 

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a Business Support Officer - Highways Procurement on behalf of Luton Borough Council.

Job Purpose:

To provide high‑quality business, administrative, and procurement support to the Highways Service, ensuring efficient delivery of procurement processes, contract administration, supplier management, compliance monitoring

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support by Monitoring project milestones and key timelines
  • Support preparation and administration of highways procurement exercises.
  • Assist in drafting procurement documents and evaluation criteria.
  • Coordinate with professional service provider assistance and legal service provider assistance
  • Coordinate supplier queries during tender periods.
  • Support evaluation panels and collate scoring results.
  • Maintain contract registers and procurement pipelines.
  • Manage Action Tracker for key stakeholders/team on project
  • Organise and record /track meeting actions
  • Organise site visits, and supplier engagement days
  • Budget monitoring on project

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in business or administrative support within procurement or local government
  • Understanding of procurement processes and contract administration
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office and procurement systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work with confidential commercial information-.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • Teamwork and stakeholder engagement
  • Analytical and reporting skills
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset
  • May attend site or contractor meetings
  • Must comply with procurement and financial governance frameworks
  • Role may evolve as service delivery models change
