Exciting news! Connect2Luton has recruited their new Business Manager, Jane Stredder. Jane was the first to join our brand new joint venture partnership with Luton Borough Council. She has already made a fantastic impression and is getting stuck in behind the scenes getting us ready for launch.

We thought we’d dive a little deeper to find out what her plans are for the new joint venture and a little more about her background. See her interview below…

What are your plans for the Connect2Luton team?

The aim of our team is create a working environment that compliments the true values of Luton Borough. To care about our people, the values of my team are all naturally part of our life and work ethics. 

We will enhance relationships with all sectors of the Borough and bring the best talent into the services we deal with. Enhancing quality of those recruited, where necessary and making Luton Council the employee of choice, even for temporary contracts which is where Connect2Luton comes in.

What is your recruitment background?

Recruitment has always been my working career, 30 years from my first role in HR then in to Recruitment. 25 years ago I was involved in set up of high street office, I was made manager within 4 years but then unfortunately I was made redundant last year.

In my previous role I dealt with various sectors, 60% within public sector. Some of my clients included Local Authorities, NHS Trusts, Bedfordshire Police and Fire and Rescue. We successfully maintained these clients for over 10+ years through various changes. We were the market leader in our local area due to the service from my long standing team.  Our values and work ethics with clients, candidates and team were of the highest level.

We adored our work and this came across through our results to all parties. Many candidates, clients and team members became long term friends. I am looking forward to my new challenge with Connect2Luton and I can’t wait to get stuck in building relationships with new people!

What did you do prior to working in recruitment?

Prior to my first role in recruitment, I studied A levels and then on to Business Studies, all whilst temping to discover the working world.

 What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I love growing plants in the greenhouse and each windowsill of my house!  I enjoy creating things of beauty, the more flowers the better.  I love the colours and the escape that comes through nurturing other types of living things. My Husband just thinks I create an overgrown jungle!

I also like walking with the family, showing the grandchildren the beauty in nature and the surrounding Chiltern Hills.  Awareness and appreciation of life is everything. Plus, the photo's I take from my garden and capturing nature in all aspects.
